CEO World Magazine’s “Executive Spotlight: Greg Blatt”, discussed how Blatt was able to capitalize on a burgeoning industry and ensure its sustained relevance in the ever-changing tech world.
Gregory Blatt is the CEO and Chairman of Match Group. Greg Blatt is also the CEO of Tinder. Earlier on, Greg was the CEO of IAC. He was also the executive vice president, general counsel, and business affairs for Martha Stewart. He has also been an associate at Rosen and Katz, Lipton, Wachtell, Grubman indursky, and Schniderler. He graduated from Colgate University and Columbia law school.
In 2009, Greg Blatt moved to Texas to run a small business, match.com, in the Lone Star State. He moved from the Big Apple, InterActivcorp, the parent company to match.com, where he was the executive vice president and general counsel for the past five years. Match.com was the first modern dating website on the internet but has recently faced some stagnation financially and subscriber base.
Matsh.com sold out to IAC in 1999. That was also the time Greg became general counsel at Martha Stewart Living. He had his ups and downs during law school. He recalls when his roommate called to check up on him because he hadn’t seen him for several days. The challenges helped him understand teamwork, work ethic, and perfectionism more. Blatt learned to understand and unravel a problem before solving it.
He later resolved that corporate law wasn’t for him and decided to move toward entertainment law. His first practice was with Grubman Indursky Schindler. Greg Blatt spent the next four years deep in the business. He was at the heart of the executive team and instrumental in business strategies and negotiations. With just a few years post-college, he had landed a job that put his executive career on a trajectory.
However, he did not grow up with executive leadership ambitions. He admits that his school performance was less than stellar. He majored in English and enjoyed literature classes but never thought about what he’d do after graduating. Go to this page for related information.
